Kannur Cantonment

Kannur Cantonment located in Burnassery or Burnshire is a cantonment metropolis in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala, among Kannur city and Kannur City. The Cantonment became a army camp for Portuguese, Dutch and British rulers. It is the Headquarters of Defence Security Corps now. The Kannur Cantonment Board is one of the sixty two cantonments in India and the most effective one in Kerala. The Cantonment at Kannur falls in the Class III category. Defence Offices such DSC Centre, DSC Record, Pay bills workplace DSC and DPDO Kannur are located right here.It is domestic to St. Angelo Fort, Holy Trinity Cathedral and St. Thomas Orthodox Church.

The Kannur Cantonment was established within the 19th century through the British. Cantonments have been installed during the British generation typically in their army areas where both civilian and army employees resided. It become below the control of the Arakkal Kingdom till 1909, whilst the Arakkal Beevi, Rani Imbichi Adi-Raja Bibi lost it to the British. After Indian Independence, the Kannur Cantonment came underneath the manage of the Indian Army. Today, the Kannur Cantonment is a prominent and strategic region for the Indian armed forces.
