Kapiti Island
About Kapiti Island
Kapiti Coast District is a local authority’s district in the lower North Island of New Zealand, 50 km north of Wellington. The district is run by the Kapiti Coast District Council a nearby body elected through residents each three years. Although Kapiti Coast is the reputable call of the district the council uses the Maori-language spelling Kapiti on its internet site, no matter this spelling being unrelated to the authentic Maori call for the island. The council consists of a mayor and 10 councilors. Residents also elect a network board for their neighborhood area.
The Wellington Regional Council branded as Greater Wellington is responsible for regional governance of the district inclusive of public transport, water and environmental control. Apart from Kapiti Island, possibly the maximum visible functions of the Kapiti Coast are Kapiti Coast Airport and Queen Elizabeth Park. The airport is sandwiched among Paraparaumu and Raumati. Possessing 3 runways one of that is now closed it as soon as served as the principle airport of the Wellington vicinity, however changed into till lately used especially by aero clubs.
