About Khao Phanom Bencha Mountain

Khao Phanom Bencha Mountain is located in the Krabi Province of Thailand. Earlier it was a mere mountain which was later transformed into a national park of Thailand. The park is named after the mountain. The surrounding area of Khao Phanom Bencha Mountain houses a number of rare wildlife and protects an area of undisturbed rainforest. The height of the Khao Phanom Bencha Mountain is about 1,397 meter above sea level, which provides watershed area for the enclosing areas of Krabi Province and later gushes in to the Andaman Sea. The mountain range is laid from north to south. The weather of this mountainous region remains warm and humid for almost a major part of the year.

Like other parts of Thailand, there are only two seasons in the mountain area as well. Hot season starts from January and continues to April and Rainy continues from May to December. Maximum rainfall occurs between June to October. This unique mountain houses a Moist evergreen forest. Fauna in the park include iety of valuable species of trees such as Malacca teak, Michelia champaca, Hopea odorata, lagerstronemia cupida, Dipterocarpus alatus, Baccarea sapida, and Parkia speciosa. Ground fauna include genus Calamus, iety of palms, or greenia wightiana, Daemonothops, and bamboos. The park is the home to a large number of animals. The iety include clouded leopard, Sumatran serows, panthers, wild pigs, mouse deers, black bears, gibbons, tapir, Stump-tailed monkeys, squirrel, langurs, iorises, Asiatic wild dog, hornbills, white-rumped shama, red jungle fowls and pheasants, stump-tailed macaque, lar gibbon and ious other types of monkeys. A good number of rare species of birds also reside within the park like white-rumped shama, white-crowned and helmeted hornbill, and argus pheasant. There are around 200 species of birds available in the park area. It is also an important bird-spotting area. The most endangered species of bird is Gurney's Pitta. The enclosing areas of mountain offer a wide iety of attractions. There are numerous large waterfalls inside the park area what include Huai To Fall. It is a waterfall which has 5 cascades and its height is around 70-80 meters. Huai Sade Falls is a waterfall which has got three cascades. The mountain peak of Khao Phanom Bencha is deeply forested and can be reached on a multi-day trek.
