About Krabi
Krabi is the main city of Krabi Thebesan Muang at the mouth of the river Krabi on the west coast of southern Thailand, where it is empty in Phang Naga Bay. As of 2010, the city's population was 52,867. This city is the capital of Krabi province and Krabi district. Tourism is an important industry. Krabi is 783 km south of Bangkok by road. At the beginning of Rattanakosin or Bangkok in the late eighteenth century, when the capital was finally settled in Bangkok, an elephant crab was set up in Krabi by the order of the governor Chao Fraya Nurena Noi of Nobon C Thammarat, which was then Till one part of the Thai kingdom. He sent his Vijier, Phra Pal to oversee this work, which was to ensure regular supply of elephants to the big city.
Many followers settled in the footsteps of Phra Pal that soon Krabi had a large community of three different boroughs: Bring Pakasai, Khalong Pon, and Paka. In 1872, King Chullongkorn gave them the city status, a word called Krabi, which preserves its meaning, the monkey symbol of the old standard. The city's first governor was Luang Thep Sen, although it continued for a while as a dependent of Nakhon Thammarat. It was changed in 1875, when Krabi was raised in the old system of the Thai government in the fourth level city. After this the administrators reported directly to the Central Government in Bangkok, and the history of Krabi began as a separate entity from other provinces.
