About Mahakal Mandir

The Mahakal Temple or Mahakal Mandir is a sacred Hindu temple positioned in Darjeeling inside the kingdom of West Bengal, India dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Shiva, the 1/3 god in the Hindu triumvirate. The Temple turned into built in 1782 by Lama Dorjey Rinzing and is perched atop the Observatory Hill in Darjeeling and is an amalgamation of Hindu and Buddhist religions. It is a unique religious website wherein each religions coexist harmoniously.

Mahakal Temple stands as a ancient edifice instantaneous where a Buddhist Monastery named 'Dorje-Ling' once stood which become constructed by Lama Dorjey Rinzing in 1765. Legend has it that three Shiva-Lingas representing Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar manifested themselves at the website online in 1782. The monastery itself changed into plundered and destroyed in 1815 at some point of the Gorkha invasion and then it turned into shifted to Bhutia Busty about a mile away and was referred to as the Bhutia Busty Monastery. The Temple is a miles respected and visited religious shrine of the region.
