Manipal

Manipal is a town in the Udupi District of Karnataka. Known for its famous Manipal University, the town is located on the Karnataka coast. The Arabian Sea lies at a touching distance of 8 km and gives the place a pleasant coastal climate.

Located on a plateau, the town offers a stunning view of the Arabian Sea to its west and the Western Ghats on its east. Manipal’s most famous tourist attraction is its Manipal University. The town is a center of learning, healthcare and finance. Manipal came into the limelight in the 1950s when Dr. T.M.A. Pai founded the Manipal University. The sleepy coastal town is also a regional IT hub and has the headquarters of the Syndicate Bank located here.

The tropical climate of Manipal makes it an ideal holiday destination. Tiger Circle is the main commercial center in the city. There is a planetarium which is the second largest in whole of Karnataka. The Manipal End Point is a famous tourist spot. It is a cliff overlooking the Swarna River. The Arbi Falls and Maple Beach are other popular attractions. Many famous temples and religious places are also located within the town.
