Tlabung is a census town in Lunglei area in the Indian province of Mizoram. The township was first settled and settled in November 1871 when the Superintendent of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Lt. Col. T.H. Lewin requested his Assistant Mr. Squat and 150 warriors from the Frontier Battalion to assemble a fortification at Tlabung which is to serve the Battalion Headquarters of the Southern Column of the Lushai Expedition to safeguard a young lady named Mary Winchester from the Lushai Chief Bengkhuaia.
It was made a piece of the South Lushai Hills on 1 April 1898, while it was a piece of the Chittagong Hill Tracts prior. It turned into a thriving exchange focus amid 1860-70 when Mizo in north and south had less information of business. It was utilized as the principle waterway port to import products from what is currently Bangladesh through Chittagong city. A Border Trade assistance focus in Tlabung is in task which assists with exchange between Chittagong, Bangladesh and Tlabung, Mizoram. There are tentative arrangements to open the course from Tlabung to Chittagong port, it has been assessed that Mizoram can send out crude and semi crude materials like bamboo while it can import iron, steel and ceramics.
